Meet “Bolt”: World’s Fastest Humanoid Robot Breaks Speed Barriers at 10 m/s
A major breakthrough in robotics has arrived as researchers from Zhejiang University, in collaboration with Shanghai-based JingShi Technology, officially unveiled Bolt—the world’s fastest full-size humanoid robot.
Standing 175 centimeters tall and weighing 75 kilograms, Bolt has achieved a peak running speed of 10 meters per second, a record that surpasses all previously documented full-size humanoid robots. According to its creators, no other humanoid robot of comparable size has ever reached such velocity.
The robot’s name, Bolt, is a tribute to legendary sprinter Usain Bolt, whose record-breaking speed redefined human athletics. Just like its namesake, the humanoid robot is designed to push the limits of performance, balance, and mechanical coordination.
This achievement builds on the research team’s recent success earlier this year, when they introduced a high-speed quadruped robot capable of exceeding 10 meters per second, setting a world record for four-legged robotic locomotion. The transition from quadruped to full-size humanoid speed at this level marks a significant leap in robotics engineering.
Experts say innovations like Bolt could accelerate advancements in search and rescue, industrial automation, emergency response, and mobility research, bringing humanoid robots closer to real-world deployment at human-like — and now superhuman — speeds.
