Environmental engineering has increasingly adopted the High-Gravity Reaction System to improve mass transfer efficiency in pollution control processes. Research shows that traditional systems often suffer from limited gas–liquid contact efficiency, requiring large column heights and long residence times.

By introducing centrifugal acceleration, typically between 200–1200 g, the system dramatically increases interphase contact efficiency. Liquid films formed in rotating packed beds are significantly thinner than in conventional scrubbers, often less than 100 micrometers, improving absorption of contaminants such as CO₂, SO₂, and VOCs.

In wastewater treatment applications, high-gravity reactors enhance oxidation and stripping processes. Studies indicate that reaction times can be reduced by up to 60–80%, depending on pollutant concentration and system configuration. Typical liquid flow rates range from 0.5 to 10 m³/h in pilot-scale systems.

One key advantage is reduced footprint. A process that traditionally requires a tall absorption tower can be replaced with a compact module less than 1–2 meters in diameter.

Additionally, heat and mass transfer coefficients are significantly improved due to turbulent micro-mixing, which increases reaction uniformity and reduces chemical consumption.

The High-Gravity Reaction System is therefore increasingly considered in sustainable industrial design, especially in sectors where space, efficiency, and environmental compliance are critical.
