Steel is the most widely used material, typically Q235 carbon steel in furniture manufacturing. This steel grade offers tensile strength around 370–500 MPa, allowing stable frame construction. For corrosion protection, manufacturers apply zinc primer layers followed by polyester powder coating.
Aluminum alloy (often 6061 or 6063 grades) is another common option. It provides natural oxidation resistance and reduces overall product weight by approximately 30–40% compared to steel.
The welding process used in frame assembly is usually TIG welding for aluminum and MIG welding for steel. These techniques ensure joint strength while maintaining smooth surface finishes.
Folding mechanisms rely on pivot joints with stainless steel pins (commonly 304 grade). These joints are tested for repeated folding cycles, often exceeding 5,000–10,000 movements in durability testing.
Surface finishing also plays a key role. Powder coating thickness is typically 70 microns, while UV-resistant additives prevent color degradation under sunlight exposure.
Tables in a metal folding bistro set may include perforated steel tops with hole diameters of 3–6 mm to prevent rainwater accumulation. Alternatively, tempered glass surfaces of 4–6 mm thickness are used for aesthetic appeal and easier cleaning.
Manufacturing standards often include load testing, corrosion salt-spray testing (24–72 hours), and stability testing on uneven surfaces.
