  • Senator Natasha Writes IGP, Demands Security Reinstatement Following Attack on Family Residence

Suspended senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has appealed to the Inspector General of Police to urgently reinstate her security details, following an alleged attack on her family residence in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

She made the plea in a statement issued by her media team and titled ‘Gunmen Attack Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Family House.’

The lawmaker alleged that the assault was a targeted attempt on her life, which was thwarted by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and members of the local community.

“We condemn the brazen attack on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s family house in Obeiba-Ihima, Kogi State, on Tuesday, April 15.

“Armed men, mistakenly believing the senator was present, vandalised windows in her grandfather’s house. Fortunately, security operatives swiftly responded and repelled the attackers.

“This calculated assault appears to be a direct response to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s courageous stance against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, whom she accused of sexual harassment.

“We urge the Inspector General of Police to immediately reinstate her security details,” the statement read.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan said the attackers appeared to have acted on mistaken information that she was in the community at the time.

“Two days ago, my younger brother took some contractors to my hometown in Ihima to inspect locations for upcoming projects I attracted to my senatorial district.

“The unknown gunmen assumed I was the one in town and attacked my family house that night.

“Thankfully, the civil defence team and community members responded promptly and chased them off. A report was made at the police area command, and no one was hurt,” she said.

In the statement, the senator’s team also called on the public to remain vigilant and support her efforts to seek justice.

“We call on the public to remain calm and support the pursuit of justice for Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan. Her dedication to speaking truth and representing her constituents should not be met with violence and intimidation.”

  • US will 'move on' from Ukraine peace talks if no progress soon.

The US will abandon trying to broker a Russia-Ukraine peace deal within days unless there are clear signs a truce can be reached, the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has warned.

Rubio said the US wanted to help end the war but was willing to move on if there were no immediate signs of progress.

"We're not going to continue with this endeavour for weeks and months on end," Rubio said, adding that the US had "other priorities to focus on".

The comments come just hours after Ukraine took the first step towards signing a minerals deal with Washington that intends to set up an investment fund for Ukraine's reconstruction.

Following a meeting with European leaders in Paris on Thursday, Rubio told reporters on Friday: "We need to determine very quickly now - and I'm talking about a matter of days - whether or not this is doable" in the short-term.

"If it's not going to happen, then we're just going to move on," he said.

He said it was clear that a peace deal would be difficult to strike but there needed to be signs it could be done soon.

The comments follow Ukraine and the US signing a memorandum of intent on Thursday, published by the Ukrainian government, which states that the countries intend to establish an investment fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine as part of an economic partnership agreement.

The aim is to finalise the deal by 26 April, the memo says.

The document provides no details on natural resources, but previous leaks have suggested the deal has been extended beyond minerals to control of Ukraine's energy infrastructure, as well as its oil and gas.

The US has so far resisted providing Kyiv with security guarantees to support any future ceasefire.

The memo said the "American people desire to invest alongside the Ukrainian people in a free, sovereign and secure Ukraine" and the US and Ukraine "desire a lasting peace in Ukraine and a durable partnership between their two peoples and governments".

Donald Trump's public shouting match with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House in February had temporarily blown negotiations on a deal off course.

Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced the signing of the memorandum on X. Her post included photos of Svyrydenko and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent signing separately.

"We are happy to announce the signing, with our American partners, of a Memorandum of Intent, which paves the way for an Economic Partnership Agreement and the establishment of the Investment Fund for the Reconstruction of Ukraine," Svyrydenko wrote.

The signing was conducted over an online call with Bessent, who said the details of the deal were still being worked out.

"It's substantially what we'd agreed on previously. When the president [Zelensky] was here, we had a memorandum of understanding. We went straight to the big deal, and I think it's an 80-page agreement and that's what we'll be signing," he said.

The memo said technical discussions were held in Washington DC as recently as 11 and 12 April.

Trump also hinted at the deal during a press conference with Italian leader Giorgia Meloni.

"We have a minerals deal which I guess is going to be signed on Thursday... next Thursday. Soon. And I assume they're going to live up to the deal. So we'll see. But we have a deal on that," he said.

The White House did not respond to a request for further details on contents of the agreement, Reuters news agency reports.

  • He tightened his grip on the fork. The moment the man crossed the threshold, he buried it in the man’s neck. The man’s head slammed against the wall. He yanked the fork free and stabbed again until the man collapsed, dead. Then he seized the man’s pistol.
Beyond his cell, a dimly lit corridor lined with metal doors buzzed with chaos. A system malfunction had sprung the locks, and prisoners roamed free. No one, including him—perhaps someone among them—knew what was happening.

The man he’d killed wore a correctional officer’s uniform. As he fumbled to unhook the officer’s utility belt, laden with cuffs and gadgets, another figure in blue overalls, like his own, shoved through the bars.
The newcomer, a psychopath wielding a baton, swung hard. He ducked, landing a sharp jab to the man’s throat, crushing his trachea. The baton clattered to the floor as the man clutched his neck, collapsing onto the dead officer, gasping. He rolled the man over and shot him in the face.

The man he’d shot was a psycho. He was a psycho. So was every prisoner tearing through that corridor.
Horrible sounds echoed—familiar voices begging for mercy, others laughing, some hurling curses, and a few screaming without aim. This wasn’t how he’d planned his day. He was supposed to do push-ups until night fell. In his windowless cell, time was a mystery, marked only by the meal plan. He hadn’t received breakfast.

Why do you train? the voice in his head always asked. He never answered. So when it asked where he’d go if he escaped, he stayed silent and sank onto the thin mattress.

Another man in blue overalls pushed the gate open, peering inside. His gaze lingered on the corpses and the blood’s grim artistry. Bushy-haired, with a beard swallowing his words, the man spoke. “Oh, well,” he said, his voice drowned by the distant uproar.
The man stepped in and sat beside him on the bed.

    “No reason to leave, eh?”

He didn’t reply. The man continued, “In jail, you’ve got time to think. I figured life might’ve turned out fine if some things—some people—never existed.”

If the people who shaped his life hadn’t existed, neither would he. He cleared his throat and spoke.

“Life would’ve been different if my parents weren’t who they were. I am what they made me. And I need to end it.” He extended the pistol. “Shoot me.”
The man opened his mouth, but he cut him off. “I’ve thought about it. Don’t talk. Just do it.”

They are five (5) important dresses a woman should wear in her lifetime.

    These are:

    1. School uniform
    2. Matriculation gown

Let your daughters know; That if any girl skips the 2nd dress, she will not get to wear the 3rd.

Daughters must not rush to wear the 5th just because a man has promised them the 4th.

More so, the 4th fits better and more prestigious if worn before the 5th.

Our daughters must learn to wait and follow the dress pattern from 1 to 5.

Be a good parent and Christian leader.

We have this as a responsibility to our Children as parents.
